Last spring, I had the privilege of being a guest on the Hope Channel on their show Go Healthy for Good. It was a great opportunity to share a bit about the role of occupational therapy for people with dementia. We discussed issues related to a hypothetical patient named Betty and some of the challenges she and the family might face as her disease progresses. We discussed many topics from financial management, to organization of appointments and medications, to managing anxiety. There was very little time to discuss anything in much detail and I missed plenty of potential issues- the maddening stress of LIVE television doesn’t lend itself to a smooth, comprehensive stream of consciousness!
