Hey DQ, Where Ya Been?

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance. – Will Durant

I have been tapping away at this blog for nearly 5 years, trying to share little nuggets of insight and wisdom that may help people deal with the intricacies of an unraveling brain.  I try to only share what’s practical, helpful, or educational, and leave the heartfelt commiserating for others who walk the walk.

But the more I’ve learned, and the deeper I’ve drilled down into the science of Alzheimer’s disease, the more I’ve had to step back and look at the bigger picture.

I know there are people out there who need help right now.  They need tips and tricks and would welcome a magic pill to set to everything right again.

But this approach is like damming the river downstream; we have got to look to the source to engineer a solution.

So I’ve been lost in reading and learning, and have been busy bombarding my heroes with my insufferable curiosity.  I will share with you my epiphanies and the authors responsible for them so that you can also be inspired to change your perspective too. Stay tuned…

As you may know, I’ve also been working to bring a senior-focused, dementia-friendly public park to my community.  This is all part of another mission I’m on to nudge community leaders and citizens to play an active role in the shifting healthcare landscape.  This starts with each individual taking some accountability for the choices they make, and utilizing community resources to remove barriers and improve access to healthy choices.

I told you it was a bigger picture.

So between the park project and the mind-blowing reading material, I haven’t had much time to share any helpful news.  But I will.

If you would like to keep up with park project happenings, you can read more about it at Baker Rehab Group’s website.

Here is a supportive editorial in the local paper too.
